Pros

My fellow coworkers and manager were great.

Cons

After a year and a half of service to this company with nothing but positive reviews given to me, I was fired without warning, day of, in the middle of the work week. I was given a three minute meeting with a faceless HR representative I’ve never met with little explanation behind the decision other than cost cutting measures. My manager was not even notified that I was being let go. Do NOT work for this company. They act like they are an industry leader in employee satisfaction but they will dump you the second you are not raking in record profits for them. Upper management is full of cutthroat scumbags that only view you as a digit in the system and only care about profit margins. On top of all of this, I later found out my wage when hired was significantly less than those around me with the same level of education and qualifications. This is a shady untrustworthy company and I would not recommend it to anybody.

Pros

-Upper management seems to legitimately care about their employees as human beings first and employees second, though they're beholden to bureaucratic corporate junk. -Decent pay structure. -Meaningful work. -Culture of respect and continual growth (both learning and career growth). -Provides recognition for hard work. If you stay long enough, eventual career growth and compensation for hard and competent work. -They don't put an extreme focus on years on the job. They care more about results and proficiency. You can look at higher careers and see people in their 30s, their 40s, their 50s, etc.

Cons

-HR and HR-like-groups are deceptive and adversarial. Benefits are unclear and documentation is sparse, allowing them to abuse situations and make up rules on the spot. Make sure to keep everything and quadruple-check everything before you try to utilize any benefits or HR-provided things like leave or travel. -Corporate seems to lose the forest for the trees. They tend to put a lot of focus and money into things that don't move the needle forward like color schemes and fonts and mottos, or new templates for email signatures, rather than on the things that actually drive the company and/or employee well-being forward. -There is a LOT of administrative work. To do even the most basic of thing, you'll usually have to dedicate 30-80% more time just to admin/bureaucracy to get that thing done, depending on the magnitude of the task.

Many Problems

Pros

Good colleagues. Stantec a whole (globally, especially Canadian leadership) very positive

Cons

The difficulty in the UK is the underlying culture is still MWH. Heavy framework focus, little appreciation of smaller projects. Systems and procedures heavy. Not nimble. Relatively poor approaches to integration (especially planning acquisitions) leading to senior resignations. Culture of billing everything to clients, even admin and internal management. No timesheet options/codes other than absence/billable which is arguably unethical.
