Pros

OK salary, good benefits Big company Maybe good if you're an engineer

Cons

As one co-worker put it, it's more like "One company, infinite egos". I was brought in as a intermediate/senior environmental specialist and was put onto projects I had no experience with, given no real training, and kept on being told incomplete information about projects I was given to work on, making me look the fool in front of clients. After becoming one of the top employees in three years at my previous company, I was "let go" after less than a year. A demotivating company.

Pros

The people: Stantec does their very best to keep good people and to promote a healthy and happy work environment. They also have a great working model of "local" offices to serve loval clients. Those offices are often full of people who work together and are also good friends. Coming to work with people you like makes any job way moe awesome! Also - refer to my comments on cons below where I mention the public company aspect. One other major benefit to working here is that anyone can wmove up and be someone important at the firm. That's because you don't have to "buy in" for part ownership like in a partnership agreement. You can just be good at your job and move up and be recognized.

Cons

It's a public company so the needs of the shareholders really matter. That said, in a privaet company the bank accounts of the partners also matter so maybe it isn't a "con". At least a public company is fair and regulated and you know for sure that the leadership team (which is awesome, by the way) is following a defined set of rules.

Pros

Great work culture locally: good co-workers, telework, dogs. However, this doesn't seem to be the case with other PCs (profit centres). Good benefits package.

Cons

Since the acquisition, relations have become increasingly strained with mandates coming from the top (and little else). Management in my PC so stressed about revenue that it spills over to most employees in the office. We've lost many opportunities due to large corporate overhead and steep rates. Billable time is overly important and even junior staff are expected to be finding work to keep themselves utilized.
