At least at the office I worked at the manager/subordinate relationship needs to be improved. Lack of communication, back stabbing, wiliness to look the other way when an internal policy is broken (nepotism), senior managers protecting other managers over subordinates, work ethics are lacking, and managers are not wanting to collaborate with other groups within the company. The office I worked at has kept "dead weight" employees on instead of laying them off. There were stories of project investigators of yelling at clients for various reasons and the they were never reprimanded for it.

Stantec is a large corporation and focuses heavily on acquiring new firms. They also value profit above all else, which can get in the way with their motto of putting people first. For example, we used to get an extra paid week off for the holidays in addition to two weeks of vacation, but now we are only paid for the holidays themselves and have to either use vacation time or leave without pay for the rest of that week.
