Pros

Great teammates; exciting projects (large and small). Good compensation for Project Managers/Senior Engineers. Hard work is well recognized by upper management.

Cons

Too many profit centres (BC's). Some departments could be rather political. RRSP and stock matchings can be more attractive (not 1:1).

Pros

safety and skills training. great group of peers that for the most part were not cut-throat and would actually share skills and knowledge

Cons

Management. too many redundant managers and sub-managers. See "office space" for further clarification. The management does not practice the company's commitment to Work/Life balance (they would never directly ask staff to sacrifice vacation time or use vacation time instead of non-billable administrative hours, rather they would "suggest" how you can balance the extra work demands by using your vacation "wisely"). The obsession with the utilization rate and the ridiculous number of times they ask you to estimate how "chargeable" you will be in the coming weeks is disruptive. If that rate drops at a time when their profits are suffering you will have a big "layoff bullseye" on your back, regardless of the number of years you provided your services to the company.

Pros

Not many pros to mention. Flexible hours were about the only one. All the pros were taken away when Stantec bought the company.

Cons

Stantec has a very proficient way of lowering moral to new lows and then taking them even lower. The company is completely guided by profit numbers. The people who get promoted to department managers are those that have the quality of treating others like dirt. Hourly employees were "advised" to work overtime and not show it on their timecards. Stantec buys companies, tears them apart, and many good people will lose their jobs because their salaries are too high.
