The touted benefits for part-timers are merely the opportunity to purchase membership in a group health plan, and the cost, while lower than individual plans, still runs nearly $100 weekly for single persons. The 32 hour weekly average in order to obtain fully paid benefits means that store directors carefully jigger schedules so that very few part timers will be eligible.
