      Pros

      I struggle to even think of a company doing something as exciting. The sense of purpose and urgency both are evident in every team here. Being part of an incredibly talented group singly focused on the promise of Mars is definitely a unique experience. That said, the daily grind is not all hollywood sci-fi and rocket launches. The day-to-day work is hard and sometimes tedious. It's usually satisfying and rewarding though.

      Cons

      - Burnout is real. Management seems tuned in to it though, and wants to make sure you're okay, but I wish it didn't happen at all. - The pace can seem both way too fast when demands are made of you, and glacially slow when waiting for the rest of the company to move forward (eg. return to flight).

      Rewarding but tough; gain knowledge and experience but no career development

      Pros

      Working with some of the smartest engineers in the world and taking on some of the most challenging engineering problems is truly rewarding. Good workplace with free coffee, free froyo, and cheap meals. Very fast-paced and you get to see your efforts go into application very quickly.

      Cons

      Management is still trying to figure itself out. Constant reorgs and shifting priorities results in loss of productivity and a decrease in morale. Career development is not directly valued. Very much a "sacrifice for the team" kind of place. Work/life balance gets lost -- not out of force, but because of the environment.

      Pros

      World class peers Great management (in software at least) Good stock sharing Huge opportunity to use many different technologies Looks great on a resume An absolute beehive of activity (if you like that kind of thing) No expense spared on desks/computers/monitors/chairs Amazing food at restaurant Mgt is flexible on hours, and if you need to go to a doctor or something.

      Cons

      The work/life balance is not as bad as its reputation. Everyone I saw that was really busting the hours was doing it to themself. It is because when your peers/friends are working really hard, you will tend to do the same thing. It is rather crowded these days. And if you don't like an open office cubicle environment, that may be a problem .... there is a ton of stuff going on all the time.
