Mandatory overtime

Pros

Subsidized food and you can purchase stocks

Cons

Working at SpaceX can be exciting at first, but the reality sets in quickly — there’s little to no work-life balance. Long hours and mandatory overtime are the norm, even when work is slow. It’s never an 8-hour day; management would rather keep you on-site than let you go home early. Breaks and lunches are tightly monitored, and you can’t even scan for food unless you’re officially on break. The culture often feels more like a sweatshop than a place that values its employees’ time or well-being. The only reason a majority of people stay is for the stock options, which can be great long-term, but they come at the cost of personal time and energy. The company’s mission is inspiring, but the day-to-day reality wears most people down.

Pros

Work environment gets you motivated to work hard. Lots of talented teammates, who will train you. Team build up gatherings to go out and have fun. Free drinks, snacks, and BBQ(Few times in a year). Cheap cafeteria and food trucks Offer great lectures and classes about space exploration (depending on your supervisor if you can attend)

Cons

No room to make a mistake, they will get on your case, including termination. Pay is on lower end compared to other companies. High turnover rate. You get to know someone and they might not be there next week. Supervisor plays big favoritism, which can make you love going to work or hate going into work.

Pros

SpaceX is doing some awesome things and company is set up to keep doing great. Also, have some very talented people working there. You can feel proud to be working for a company that is leader in the industry and opportunity to be part of something meaningful. Paycheck can be good, if you don't mind all the available overtime. They offer plenty of workshops to attend to learn and self improvement. Work is not so challenging where you have to solve problems, but as a technician you just have to follow directions. Some find the repetition part of the job easy.

Cons

However, unprofessional team supervisors who are on a power trip create a very difficult work environment. These individuals tend to misuse their authority, potentially leading to bullying, intimidation, and a hostile workplace. This can significantly impact employee morale, productivity, and even lead to negative physical and mental health consequences. They can get away with it because lack of communication and accountability from upper leadership. Technicians have no real channel to voice concerns, as HR appears disengaged and lazy, so they are unresponsive to complaints or HR will say they are not interested in any complaints. Team supervisors hold excessive power, including the ability to fire technicians at anytime without prior notice. With no checks or balances in place, they essentially run their teams like isolated kingdoms, which was rumored to take place in California location. Unfortunately some supervisor, who transferred out from California carried over the nasty dysfunction with them. If you are lucky you might be placed in good supervisor's team, who value professionalism and are respected by team members, but there are only few of them left because they have been losing all the good supervisors to competitor.
