Pros

SpaceX is a fast-paced, exciting, and rewarding place to intern. You are given real work- exactly the same work as full-timers and you can learn a TON here. Working at SpaceX has taught me a wide variety of skills from time management and prioritizing to effective communication and teamwork.

Cons

As many of the reviews have already stated, SpaceX is not an easy place to work. Not only is the work challenging, but it easily consumes your life....finding time outside of work (even on the weekends) can be difficult. The employees here are over-worked and under-payed; however, for an internship the pay isn't too bad. Also, interns are limited to working 50 hours work weeks, but keep in mind you WILL work 50 hour works weeks at least.

Pros

I have interned here for two summers now and am continually impressed with the level of responsibility I'm given every day. -Gain lots of experience first hand from day one -Exciting work and projects -Knowing your work will go towards benefiting humanity -Small teams for large projects -Fairly flat management structure -Launches are awesome to be a part of -Full of young employees with lots of energy and excitement

Cons

This place certainly isn't for everyone. People not looking to devote their lives to their work will not be happy here. The management understands that and is part of their strategy. -Long hours -Pay doesn't scale for the long hours- could likely make significantly more somewhere else -Goals set from the top are often borderline ridiculous with their ambition. It can be daunting, but it also serves to motivate you and leave you surprised at how far you can actually go -Few opportunities for promotion. The management is largely people in their 30s that won't be leaving any time soon.

Pros

-Learned more in one summer interning at SpaceX than I thought possible. Was challenged to take on tasks which I did not have a solid background in, while receiving the support necessary to learn , helping to set me up for success. -Felt like part of the team. Regularly presented or contributed in meetings. - Was able to expand my horizons by collaborating with many different departments within SpaceX, gaining insight to many aspects of the company. -Worked in an atmosphere where everyone has a common goal, which was quite motivating.

Cons

-Long days and often inconsistent working hours. Daily schedule was sometimes unpredictable as priorities quickly changed. -Large campus, sometimes long or inconvenient walks to other buildings.
