Fast-moving and meaningful

Pros

This is an incredibly fast-moving environment and no two days are the same. There's always incredibly challenging and fascinating projects to work on, which have the potential to create huge impact for society. You're expected to work hard, but people who come to work at SpaceX want to do that - and managers are really careful about making sure people are working at a sustainable pace. SpaceX has kept this awesome small company culture even as it's grown, so it's super collaborative and open internally, which is pretty different from other aerospace firms.

Cons

There's always a lot of pressure around launches, which have become much more frequent over the last few years. So you do have to schedule stuff in your life around those moments. But that's what you would expect with working in this industry.

As far as you want to go

Pros

8 years here, haven't had a boring day at work yet. Every day brings new challenges and obstacles to figure out, and at the end of the day you wonder where the hours have gone. Opportunities to pursue your interests and expand your scope of knowledge at work are nearly endless, and you'll be learning some of the most motivated and phenomenally smart people on earth. You can write your own story here, so long as you excel at it. Here, you can go as far as you are capable, and the satisfaction from contributing to the highest-aiming goals around is unparalleled.

Cons

Relentless pressure and schedule. Everyone has double to triple the workload that could ever be achieved, and the target is always moving. This proves troublesome to people used to organization and regular schedules. It can be disruptive to life outside of work, since 50+ hour weeks and months of travel can take their toll. If you're not a self-motivator or struggle with time management and organization, you will sink. This is not a place for those who need babysitters or the faint of heart.

Pros

Everyone in the company, regardless of role or function, is extremely qualified, effective, motivated, and proactive. No idea is too crazy. The company provides employees with a great deal of autonomy and enables them to take it to the next level as well as to voice their concerns and ideas. There's no corporate ladder BS, best idea wins.

Cons

High cost of living in LA and pay isn't as competitive as in other companies in the industry.
