Pros
SpaceX gives interns real projects from day 1. It's easy to feel like your contributing to the company's mission. Interns are treated like full time employees with real responsibilities, which is a lot of pressure at times but increases what you get out of the semester (or two ...) of work. Highly recommend joining the team if you're looking to surround yourself with the best and brightest in the industry.
Cons
Cost of living is pretty high, especially for short-term furnished rentals in the LA area. Some people do OK, but if you wait till the last minute or have trouble with Airbnb, expect to spend a good chunk of your paychecks on housing.
