Pros

Very interesting place to say the least. The employees here are great to work with and always helpful to train you. The job in itself is interesting and somewhat satisfying. Lots of “mandatory” overtime if that’s what you like. Benefits are pretty well, but not as good as what others on here say.

Cons

Schedules are reactive than proactive, your schedule changes daily, you never have a life because you work 60+ hours most weeks. You’re told you will be working 50 hrs a week at your interview but that’s a myth. Schedules are terrible and hours are very odd. The pay is no where close to the amount of talent they hire. At the end you’re expendable and they could care less if stay or not, you’re easily replaceable. Lots of Elon Musk groupies here. If you love spending time with your family this is not the place for you. You work 6 Days a week 10 hours a day, and 6 Days a week 12 hours a day during launch time.

Pros

There are several reasons to work at SpaceX. Here are a few of my top reasons: - Unlimited opportunities. No one will stop you from learning new things, helping other teams (if you have time), and increasing your skillset. - Tons of job satisfaction. The work we do is challenging, and the process can be difficult, but when the team is ultimately successful, there is no better feeling. - Innovation. SpaceX is always pushing the boundaries of what's been done before or what is even considered possible. This forces the employees to constantly think outside the box, come up with creative solutions to complex problems, and think critically. - Fun and exciting. What's cooler than launching and landing rockets, flying spacecraft, and eventually going to Mars? I can honestly say I've never once been bored at SpaceX.

Cons

- Achieving difficult things takes hard work. There have been days/weeks/months on end where I've worked incredibly long hours in order to be successful. - Part of innovating is that you're covering uncharted territory and this can tough. I've had times where I did not see an easy solution and it was frustrating or demoralizing. However, through teamwork and good leadership we've always found a way to get the job done. - The long hours can make work/life balance difficult.

Pros

This is very important work that has a huge impact on humanity. You'll never work anywhere else that has as much R&D or as many lofty goals. * Great food * Cheap swag * Great stock options * Support for work/life balance

Cons

The tools have suffered from owners departing and not enough people knowing how to keep them running. IT has exploded and spiderweb-ed into every part of the organization. Owning things is great but having too many chefs is a problem. The cash portion of the compensation isn't really negotiated without giving up some stock. Since the hierarchy is so flat it's hard to figure out how you can "level up" or get a significant raise.
