Pros

Good benefits overall (no retirement). Pay varies greatly for the same positions, but is good when the overtime is factored in. It can be challenging work that has high expected performance levels. Very satisfying when you see the results of your work.

Cons

Very poor work/life balance. There is little to no understanding of people enjoying anything but space/rocketry. No retirement, the stock options offered are a joke at this point. No real training. Very engineer orientated, if you didn't go to college to be an engineer, you are basically a second class citizen (no matter your experience/education level).

Pros

Good overtime pay when you’re regularly scheduled 12 hours a day. Team bindings are fun. Good, free holiday parties - last year was at Universal Studios Hollywood. Fun team bonding events, supposed to be one every quarter. Coworkers are awesome. Subsidized food at the main cafeteria and in the break rooms. $5 for a huge serving at the downstairs main cafeteria. Free coffee bar too. Easy work.

Cons

No work life balance. Elon is a toxic leader. If you fall below 52hrs/week at SpaceX you won’t be there long. Often working 6 days a week and we’ve had a schedule change roughly once every month and a half. They continue to cut perks and become like a large corporate entity. For example, one of the buildings used to have hot food and a coffee bar and they got rid of that. It takes too long to get to the main building on your lunch so it probably won’t be a reasonable option. Food truck schedules have been cut on certain days at another building and replaced with an inferior program. To go to the bathroom you have to clock into a “General” work order which reduces your “utilization.” They want a “utilization” of 85% which is difficult to do if you use the bathroom a couple times when you’re spending 75% of your waking hours here and if you have to physically find work in the department (work isn’t brought to you).

Pros

People will think you are special because this is on your resume

Cons

1 - Work/life balance non-existent for 90% of team 2 - Toxic culture of favoritism, elitism, back-stabbing, ego-driven decisions, low pay, lack of growth, lack of promotions, lack of stock benefits 3 - Gaslighting is off the charts, management, HR, EHS and other teams will lie through their teeth just to placate your legitimate concerns 4 - Because of the company name, you will start to let your boundaries and values be compromised all in the hopes of a better future that the majority of employees will not realize 5 - This company is getting worse every year, I should know, I spent over 5 years there
