Fantastic Company To Work For

Pros

I loved working for SoulCycle. The people are great. The benefits are great (free rides, discount on all merchandise, speakers come into HQ monthly). This mission is great. This job feels more like a lifestyle than an actual job. When it was time for me to move on, I definitely didn't want to, but I graduated from school and took on another opportunity.

Cons

It's hard to think of any but I would say once in a while you come across someone snobby at the local studios. That part is just frustrating because they are representing the same brand and are not doing it justice. But I rarely meet a part of SoulCycle I don't like.

Pros

You will meet good people and get free classes. Great christmas party although they disinvited lower ranking staff then re invited them(weird). Generally fun work environment, you work in athletic gear, again will meet great people

Cons

Most of the managers are fairly young and have decided to relive their middle school days by becoming a manager at SoulCycle. The managers are extremly cliquy and if you're not in their good graces be prepared to be treated like crap. If you are looking for a job where brown nosing is more important than actually doing your job, this is the place for you. There is absolutely no room for growth in this company unless you spend your shifts stroking your managers egos rather than working . The environment is very racially unbalanced, the people of color are usually in cleaning positions although they do try to throw in other races to front desk staff (for legal reasons I'm sure). There is a lot of micro-agression that goes on as a front desk staff. Managers have no boundaries and there is no telling what will come out of their mouths from one minute to the next. If you happen to be African American you will most likely be expected to be in house entertainment, slang interpreter/ any other stereo-typical role they can assign to you. A lot of managers are from places that are not as diverse as New York and are not capable of dealing with people that are not exactly like them. There are no actual rules so structure is out the window which creates confusion and disorganization.

Pros

The job perks are out of this world. Highest paying part time job I've ever held. Work out for free. The riders (SoulCycle's word for customers) are wonderful people who take every opportunity to thank you and gift you with lots of goodies.

Cons

All the pros are great if you can deal with management. There is a world outside the studio, but not to them. Management treats you as a commodity, not a person. Rudest group of women I've ever had the displeasure of being involved with.
