Sinopec as an Oil & Gas Company is misdirected
Pros
Before Sinopec took over Daylight Energy, it was a great place to work. They offered competitive benefits and generous salaries. The staff were engaged in the tasks and everyone knew about the goals of the organization. Political game players did not dictate the work demographic. People worked for the success of the organization. While the salaries and benefits have not changed with Sinopec, the company culture has changed.
Cons
Sinopec suffers from a lack of future direction and poor upper management decisions. Mostly, Sinopec is a "top heavy" organization with a lot of VP's and not so many people to actually do the work. The is a symptom of being owned by a Chinese international corporation which handcuffs the management's ability to make decisions. All decisions, big or small, need to filter to Head Office in Beijing. Head office has a lack of oil and gas experience and therefore detailed information and endless justification is required. The working atmosphere is very frustrating and the political game players have taken over the corporate culture.
