Pros

Not minimum wage. You get a lot of make up and skin care in gratis (up to $100 dollars worth). At least in my location the over people working are very pleasant. Fairly good bonuses, providing you make enough for the percentage to make much of a difference. Also most, MOST, of the clientele Sephora attracts are fairly nice.

Cons

Hours are bad. I work part time, and they will spread your hours thin to keep from having to pay you overtime. I once worked 5 days in a week, each shift being roughly 4-5 hours. that pay check I made as much as when I was working 2 days a week, each full 9 hr shifts. Also, they sometimes have these shifts called oncall shifts, which usually mean that you may or may not work the last couple of hours of your scheduled shift, depending on business. The difference between a 7 hr shift and a 9 hr shift feels drastically different when you are constantly on your feet and dealing with badgering entitled customers all day. And you don't know whether or not your are staying until your potential last hour. Speaking of shifts, they sometime push your lunch/your 10 much later, because they didn't not ensure to have enough people to relieve each other for their proper breaks. Most of the time it's just a skeleton crew working. We do quite a bit of skill practice at our store, and if you are terrible with acting these are excruciating. Management are always running around with different ideas, I'll get a notion that doing x is ok, and the opposite from another manager. They're not on the same page.

Pros

They pay is better than most retailers, it is a great place to start as a makeup artist, their training is hands down the best I've ever heard of for a company like that, bonuses are nice, just a really fun environment to work in in general, not to mention the fantastic free stuff. This really is a great company to work for, they do so much with the changing times, and everything pushes the stores and cast forward

Cons

They promote "hire from within" but that's not really the case; they will promote someone less qualified just so they don't have to pay them more; politics; there is room for growth but it will take you a long time to see any thing come from that; mgmt is never on the floor, always say their busy with work pertaining to the store, but if you walk to the back to get something they are always talking on the phone to family members, playing on facebook, or chatting it up, while the rest of the store is struggling to get to every client, and then the blame is placed on the cast for low sales or upset customers; not very professional, scolding cast when they do something wrong like children, also make cast deal with difficult upset clients when it should be a managers job; and communication is horrible as far as letting cast know the contests and upcoming events
