Pros
-Unlike its competitors, Sephora is all about education, training, and artistry. I have worked at 2 of their biggest competitors after working at Sephora and I would say 98% of my knowledge in the beauty industry is from Sephora. -GRATIS! -ALL high end brands to work with which makes you feel more a part of the industry, rather than half the time having to sell Revlon and Maybeline and making you feel like you work in the drug store beauty department 50% of the time -Very strong and value-oriented company -Benefits for part timers -More full time positions in the store than just management
Cons
-9 hour days ranging from opening shifts to closing shifts 5 days a week makes work/life balance very difficult to achieve. -you are micromanaged from the minute you walk in to the minute you are frisked and walk out the door. -Uniforms are absolutely hideous. They are actually embarrassing. -No cleaning crew or overnight crew to stock...which means after 7 hours straight of interacting with people and doing makeovers, you are then to clean, straighten, stock, sweep, and mop the entire store. -Impossible to move within your store. If you want to be promoted, you have to transfer to a different store. And good luck getting a manager to transfer someone out of their store for a promotion when retail already has a high turnover rate.
