Pros

The security job positions are low effort, low pay match ups. They generally need people to be a "presence" in uniform, and so understandably don't pay high wages. However, they don't demand much either. This worked for me because I needed to work overnight shifts in a low demand setting.

Cons

The only real drawback is the low pay.

Pros

Easy work If you get a good site it is tolerable Not breaking your back Depending on site really makes a big difference

Cons

If you work for a company for two years and do not recieve a raise your probably not getting one Bad supervisors will leave you in a jam and will leave with the responsibility of their jobs Sites are hit and miss be friendly with the branch manager to put you at a site that is to your liking but do not complain or rub the wrong way just play your cards right

Pros

The work is fun and can be meaningful depending on how the worker applies themselves. There is a mix of experiences in the security field that one could go through here. I have worked at a college apartment complex regularly as of the last year, special projects at construction sites, warehouse environments, and property protection specials.

Cons

Most co-workers do not apply themselves and rely on the other person to get the work done. I have been left multiple times at sites where there needed to be multiple officers. At some sites, there is too much work for one officer to handle yet there is only one officer present for a shift. Some of the work we do is not security work. Greeting people is not access control it is simply logging who is coming in and that is not what security should be about. We don't have the ability to change situations. One officer will say one thing in a situation and the site supervisor will side with somebody else for political reasons to keep the contract. They do not offer PTO. As far as overtime is concerned they use a weighted average which involves lowering the regular pay for one site which makes you lose money. These are almost all caused by a lack of pay. We are paid close to minimum wage which is not enough to support anyone who is trying to live on their own. People who work here are discouraged because they do not receive what is needed to live.
