The lack of diversity in upper management is downright embarrassing. Female and POC employees are working in an outright hostile environment. A culture that is a facade by hidden political games and tug of war between departments. There are some questionable individuals who will make up stories to get rid of people they dislike. There is no reward for knowing and doing your job that you do best, unless you become one of them. Bosses and middle management are numerous. Poor management, lots of company politics, upper management doesn't care, poor work-life balance. The worst of the worst is HR. They simply do NOT care. They will lie to you and say they will follow up on serious issues you bring forward, but they do not take accountability.

There is a good mission behind the company Cafeteria on site, albeit as expensive as a takeout

Sexism and gender wage gap: I (female) was shut down on negotiation when hired on, and 2 months later a male was hired they negotiated salary with him, settled on 10k more than me and offered him a 10k sign on bonus. Senior leadership is so disconnected from common level employees Preach flexibility and mindfulness, but increase days on site from 2-3 and then to 4 with no notice or compensation When moving up in level grades they claim you cannot increase more than 10%pay regardless of job, yet claim the job title in that grade determines the pay, so increase shouldn't count Too many systems and no integration of systems so you're bouncing around Training is confusing and management provides no guidance for what is needed or how to complete it.

Excellent benefits package, including Blue Cross Blue Shield medical, dental, vision, 401k. Bonus is performance-based. Fast-paced, dynamic environment with lots of exciting scientific opportunities that have real impacts.

Cons

High turnover rates. Covid return to work policies tend to prioritize business needs over employee health and wellbeing. Management quality highly variable, and company culture dependent on business function and group.
