Pros

70% of your time you will work independently. Lets you be creative within established Pharma guidelines. Meet interesting people and develop relationships within medical community. Company car. Very Flexible vacation and time off. Good health benefits. 401k program. Pension Program.

Cons

30% of your time you will be strictly supervised. Every word of every sentence you speak in front of a client will be analyzed for quality and effectiveness by your district manager. He or she will then provide feedback on the level of your ineffectiveness and coach you on ways to improve. You will need thick skin and patience to enjoy this work experience. Up to 60% travel. 50-60 hour work weeks. Unsatisfactory work-life balance.

Pros

Trying to increase pipeline by way of acquisition and co-promotion. Benefits, although trimmed and more expensive every year, are some of the best in class.

Cons

Senior management is awful. Communication is pathetic and the philosophy of managing via fear is becoming the norm, especially in Specialized Therapeutics and Institutional sales.

Pros

Benefits - large company - great training to prepare you for next position externally

Cons

The merger between Aventis & Sanofi was completed with the goal of being the biggest in mind. That has been accomplished to the detriment of every bit of culture that the values speak to. There is a facade that leadership wants to hear suggestions and ideas, but change does not occur because of it. There is no autonomy to do business based on your area's specific needs, and there is no fairness with evaluations - leadership buckets 100% by sales results (which are admittedly not always appropriate and not adjusted for regional performance curvew - how does an analytics team explain a national curve of 20% to ?) and changes methodology and goals on a quarterly basis, without explanation. The company is not looked at as a benchmark of excellence with physicians for products or salesmanship. There is a history of failed submissions and launches and not a bright future in the US in the near term.
