The materials science expertise at this company is phenomenal. Brilliant engineering and ability to build great product -especially tubular products

Cons

Top management are Board cronies. They are children and relations. Unlike the "old days" when management was from the ranks, these top managers - starting with Mr. Faxander have no vested interest in Sandvik or history. Also, no need to apply if you are over 40.

Pros

Top management is very green-thinking and safety-oriented, but some divisions get by doing the minimal.

Cons

SMT has gone through many restructuring(Step Changes) and top management has little or no knowledge of what's going on at the employee level. For many, responsibilities were never redefined by their front line managers causing chaos and high turnover. Little or no employees' development. Management team at Scranton has reached their golden time and everything is status-quo for them while waiting for their retirement.
