Pros

Lunch hour is flexible between 12-2 and each staff only allocated one hour but most of the assistant managers and above will leave on the dot by 12 but only return around 1.30 and start work by 2 pm. Seriously.

Cons

My first few months there was just sitting around with no work to do but my boss have the gall to ask what am i doing when he didn't assign me anything. I was left to wonder why did they hire when it doesn't seem like they needed any help. No help, no work, no direction. They want to do everything but halfway through will cancel everything and by the year end review asked you why haven't you achieve anything Big bosses barely works, they just show face then throw all the work to the low ranking staff to figure out all the hard work. Most of the them pretending to work hard but most of the time just busied themselves smoking and playing mobile games in the cafe or rooftop. Lunch hour is flexible between 12-2 and each staff only allocated one hour but most of the assistant managers and above will leave on the dot by 12 but only return around 1.30 and start work by 2 pm. Seriously. Once they throw you a project, like a rat, you need to sneak you way to find information that other BUs couldn't care less to supply or help. Their MIS division is so incompetent and practically expects you to setup your own laptop and only helps young cute employees. Corporate marketing is full of corrupt higher ups taking commissions from suppliers Retail planning and operations - keeps on sending report that nobody read and the market retail mgmt remains big problem. They know the problems but couldn't care less to fix it

A bizzare and odd company to work for...

Pros

The gym is fantastic and they have great trainers. They also provide free lunch at the cafeteria and the food is not bad!

Cons

All the strategic direction and decisions come from the Korean headquarters; and unless you are Korean, you are treated like a second-class citizen and your ideas and contributions are not be valued. There is very little transparency and sharing of information within the company. They have no idea how to “collaborate” or “innovate”. Majority of senior executives are from Korea and they are quite rude, disrespectful and raise their voices. HR is unable to shift the culture of the company so that a company that has offices and presence in the US adheres to US values and professionalism in the workplace. Women especially are treated badly as Koreans are quite chauvinistic and expect everyone to bow to them - literally. Despite its new building in San Jose, Samsung is a rotten company!
