Pros

As a large diverse organization there are opportunities to change careers and even industries. If you are open to moving.

Cons

The opportunities are limited within each site. They have not assimilated the numerous acquisitions. There are a lot of conflicting corporate cultures. Very little synergy, or co-operative project efforts between plants. Every location acts as a separate company. New products are customer driven. IE They are not innovative just reactive. This is less risky but they completely avoid the chance to do something new and make use of their diverse product and manufacturing capabilities. Don't expect any new products...ever.

Pros

Large, diversified company with excellent programs in safety, wellness, employee participation, and great communications from the headquarters in France. Above-average compensation package, generous tuition reimbursement and bonus potential. Generally good local leadership who are willing to involve employees in improvement ideas. One of the best safety records in the business, good locations (if you like the Northeast US or Europe), many opportunities for project leadership and development of others.

Cons

Internal postings are pretty much for "show"...they already have in mind who they are going to hire. Not fully utilizing their employees' talents and abilities.

Pros

Good pay relative to the jobs available in the area.

Cons

Upper management is at odds with the hourly workers on the floor. The company is constantly moving to cut costs and make improvements in efficiency and productivity, but will choose and implement actions and policies that dont accomplish these objectives. The workers themselves dont really care about the job, they work there because its pays and dont commit tot eh company, like fast food workers. Unlike fastfood, the products made are high cost and quality to be used by places like NASA, Harley Davidson, etc. Combine this with VPs who push production numbers at any cost, you have a place that is terrible to work at.
