Disappointing Decline in Colleague-Centred Values

Pros

There are some solid benefits, including healthcare and pension plans. There are also pockets of career development opportunities if your face fits. Some colleagues genuinely want to make a difference, and a collaborative spirit exists within some departments despite the limitations created by top-down mandates. However, these positives are often overshadowed by restrictive policies that undermine flexibility and morale.

Cons

The recently enforced three-day-a-week office mandate feels like a deliberate move towards forced attrition, with little regard for employee needs or work-life balance. Leadership appears out of touch with the realities of day-to-day work and seems far more interested in controlling teams than actually listening to what boosts productivity and satisfaction. This mandate feels like a quick fix for visibility rather than a long-term, employee-focused strategy. The disconnect between leadership and the workforce is palpable, with a “bums on seats” mentality taking priority over any real focus on improving employee morale or engagement. It’s disappointing to see Sage ignore the positive strides made during the remote work period, which makes it harder to see the company as a truly progressive or colleague-first workplace.

We appreciate your feedback and have read through your comments. Please note that our hybrid working approach is an important element of the way we work at Sage that is complemented by other benefits such as paid time to volunteer, the ability to work away for up to 10 weeks a year and free well-being support tools. We recently also answered several colleagues' questions about the new 3-day policy. In doing so, we've shed more light on how colleagues will be supported as they adhere to our updated hybrid structure. More information about what we offer can be found here https://www.glassdoor.co.uk/Benefits/Sage-United-Kingdom-Benefits-EI_IE1150.0,4_IL.5,19_IN2.htm - Thanks for taking the time to leave your review. Pros

Amazing people to work with

Cons

Sage values: Human: untrue, Sage does not care Trust: many employees have lost any trust they may have had recently Bold: yes it is probably bold to expect employees to commute for double the time and travel costs because operations felt like closing a local office while leaving other remote offices open. It’s also bold to give one of the reasons for this closure as wanting to create a great office vibe, while expecting a whole department to suddenly commute to another city. Simplify: the company sure simplified things for themselves by closing certain offices and burdening their employees with extra costs for commuting as well as taking time away from their families
