Pros

International company in the true sense of the word. Lots of opportunity for growth and development, especially for people who are willing to learn and work hard. Lots of room for development of professional skills, learn cutting edge tools and software and meet intelligent and motivated people.

Cons

So far, I am very satisfied with this company.

Pros

You get the most exposure to technical hands on work that I have seen among firms providing entry level work to recent graduates. The pay is good as well as the benefits they provide. For me housing, car as well as some meal allowances are all taken care of. They really do push you to advance because of the track they place you on with time constraints to achieve career objectives. It is truly a multicultural company. I have met people from around the world and made friends that I never would have had without joining this company. Also the experience you get in a short amount of time in terms of transferable skills is considerable.

Cons

The most often talked about downside of working at Schlumberger is the work and life balance. This is an industry where if you are busy and clients need services provided you must be available or they will find someone else who can be. That being said it falls on people in my position to be working for possibly weeks at a time with no days off. Also because of these business needs, procuring vacation approvals can be challenging. With enough advanced notice there should be no problem to get time off, however there is no middle ground. You either have a very short term notice of when you will get days off or you must plan several months in advance for scheduled vacation.
