Pros

-Excellent training programs. However training program has become red-taped where many use it for getting promotions. Some even as 'holidays' and get by it. -Top class benefits, though are under scrutiny. HR managers trying to shine. -Just do your job well (don't lax off) and they (usually) take care of you. - Financially strong to ride out dips in economy. Though sometimes the axe cuts are deep and painful. - Most top management from field staff so are appreciative of field conditions and make effort to get real picture of field conditions. However middle management often succeeds in portraying a better picture than true reality, during top managers typically short visits.

Cons

- May have to work in remote locations, without families. -Field/Country managers tend to think short-term, usually for the duration of their tenure, typically 2-4 years long. This affects morale and long term goals. - Growth opportunities in some areas could be limited. God-Fathers and "blowing your trumpet" seem to help. - Some field managers can be rude, demeaning and even abusive. Thankfully this is an exception rather than routine. Stress can be sometimes peak to high levels. - Field work is physically demanding, particularly during later years of your career.

Pros

If you like a challenge the job is great. Crazy hours, unpredictable schedule, good pay, difficult conditions, alot of responsability, and community college environment training classes.

Cons

The managment has objectives to meet and they have too much on their plate so tasks get passed down to the employees on tight schedules and unfairly split up among favorites and hard workers. If you cant handle the field life it seems that they promote you to a manager and then make everyone else pick up the slack. The management doesnt back up the employees at all. They expect you to stay within the rules - example not driving when you are tired for safety reasons - but if the job they want you to go to is a big job for a company they are trying to keep or worth some big money then you are expected to get there while they turn their head when you say you are tired or dont legally have the hours to drive and expect you to be there. "Out of sight, out of mind" When things are hitting the fan the managers are conveniently never around and if you go to the higher-ups then they say what they can to please you without resolving the situation at all. Dont waste your time here. College hires - they promise you the world, move you half way across the country and just when you get settled in they let you go. Dont believe the BS.

Pros

Diversity, structured environment with management system with opportunities and possibility for international work . As a leader within oilfield service organization also requires rapid but creative ideas to meet business opportunities

Cons

Possibility of exhaustion and loss of relation as often observed ..many employees become so committed to the organisation for you to last within.
