Only good for fresh out of college

Pros

I can't think of any pros. It's a job and it comes with a paycheck.

Cons

The place is a kindergarden. They refer to employees as “classmates” and use the educational grading scale for performance reviews. No alcohol served at corporate events because children are not allowed to drink. You don’t get respect based on merit, but rather on your hierarchical position. You constantly feel like you are being talked down to. The culture is, how to put it correctly… authoritarian. Everybody is expected to work for the greater good and ask no questions. Extremely poor communication between departments. A lot of processes are controlled in China, or require China’s approval, which causes significant delays. Difficult to understand how things work or find information about it. There is no published employee directory, so finding people that can answer your question is usually a multi-day task of pinging everybody in chats. Poor talent pool. Significant number of people seem to be hired for speaking Mandarin, but with very little experience or poor work ethic. The retention rate for those I personally considered good talent is 4-8 months. I would only recommend this company to fresh out of college people: it’s a good starting point, and a recognizable brand name. However, for any seasoned professional, don’t do it because you will definitely waist your time here, and will be looking for a new job within months.

Pros

Good pay, decent office location, free snacks and drinks, lunch paid for and delivered to the office every Wednesday of the week

Cons

Coworkers, terrible manager with NO experience managing a team, unrealistic expectations of your work hours (12-16+ hours for higher up positions). Since you work with China, you have to understand that they are more focused on quantity rather than quality of their work. Since they work longer hours in China, that becomes the expectations for their American counterparts.
