Pros

The coworkers you have with you throughout the work day. This job can help you get on with a big company if you’re in the right position. Lots of overtime. Great trainers who know what they’re doing.

Cons

Never home because people quit so you’re forced to work overtime, very low pay for the work being done, hardly any incentives other than some $50 gift card each quarter for safety. Management such as the site leader will prevent you from obtaining a job with DOW itself and give you a bad rep if they are short handed in your department. You try to give your opinions on things and they shut you down 24/7 like you don’t matter. Claim to be family oriented yet you only ever hear or see the higher guys getting to participate in the events the company holds. No self accountability when someone messes up it becomes the entire departments fault. If DOW has a mess up you better believe to not lose their contract SGS will find a way to pin it on someone some how. DOW always implements changes based around their customers and while I do understand that DOW is our customer but sometimes these changes affect our work so much and make it much more difficult than it already is, our management never wants to step up and fight a little for us they just go with the flow and it causes a lot of problems making it very hard for workers to work safe and clear minded when we always have to worry about messing something up. Vacation time is hardly nothing stuck with 40 hours until you make 3 Year’s and top out with only 120 hours in 5. No sick days and also no maternity leave. Room for advancement is there if you work 20 Year’s or so but other than that better believe you’re stuck where you’re at topped out at less than $24/hr after 5 years.

Pros

Great place to work, easy to lean the job due to highly competitive superintendents, free car, learning everyday different things during work, organized company, holiday package, PPE, constant guidance and support by the company's H&S officer,e-learning, safety meetings, worldwide recognized company

Cons

No steady working hours that makes you feel tired most of the times. Working alone most of the times, Overworked, overstretched,over-stressed, senior managers treat you like a number, low salary comparing to the environment of work, the demands , the hours and the dangers working with chemical and petroleum products, Constantly people signing off and new crew sign in because of few bad apples in the management. Not a job you can do for the rest of your life.
