Pros

Gained exposure, experience and knowledge of different software during each engagement.

Cons

The assignments are not properly vetted and matched. While I was qualified for more senior level positions, I rarely was placed into those jobs. What I was told during some interviews was over inflated and not even close to reality. Some instances, you don’t realize that the expectations are unreasonable and unreachable until after you start the assignment. Who learns and becomes an expert at any job in 1-2 days, with very little training?? Candidates are expected to fulfill the contract, even when the environment is toxic. Candidate support in these instances is severely lacking. My RH manager ghosted me on multiple occasions when I sent emails or called about urgent matters and I had no idea who else I could report to, to have those issues resolved. Had a client that was absolutely terrible and expressed several times on my “weekly engagement report” all issues I was having. Candidate feedback is not relevant or respected. It's all about generating revenue to fulfil contracts, without care for the actual employees working on the assignments. If you’re not on a contract you are at risk being let go if you are on “bench time”.

Pros

Name Recognition (companies know who Robert Half is) No Commission Cap Some teams work fully remote Some team managers are great Lots of awesome recruiters/account managers

Cons

OUT OF TOUCH LEADERS ABOVE BRANCH MANAGERS - people that have never recruited or haven't recruited since before text messaging or LinkedIn existed relying on salesforce to determine whether or not you're doing your job, while also ignoring market conditions and blaming people at the bottom for the change in revenue. CUTTING PEOPLE LOOSE - going back to ignoring market conditions and blaming the people doing the work: they'll let good people go, because of "performance issues," even though they're good recruiters in a tough market. Then hire new people that don't have a chance in the current market.. and eventually cut them loose too. WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR ME TODAY - It doesn't matter how you perform when the market is good. If the market turns, it's your fault. You could set records in a good year, but the moment you have a bad quarter you'll feel like your job is on the line. WAY TOO MANY LAYERS OF MANAGEMENT - I don't know what a lot of these people even do, other than pass information from the teams that do the work to more people above them. Not a lot of encouragement or understanding or direction - just "where are we at" on a call, then they disappear. THERE'S A DRAW - Draws are semi-common, but originally I wasn't made aware of my draw when I started. You'll pay back your own salary on a monthly basis before you bonus. If you don't pay it back, it stacks up and you bury yourself. It's pretty stressful.

Pros

I'm sure not every team within RH is the same, but I got an amazing team that really works together and cares about each other, which makes a big difference. Also, the bonus pay outs are absolutely ridiculous. People on my team make $200k/year easy with only 2-3 years of experience. They offer amazing training and opportunities for advancement. It's also nice to be with an ethical company- we don't screw anyone over and we genuinely help both candidates and clients, unlike a lot of staffing agencies.

Cons

This is not a job for everyone. It takes a certain kind of personality- you have to be willing to put in the work and handle rejection and set backs well. It's not easy, but the rewards are more than worth the hard work, in my opinion.
