Shaky in recruitment services for Canada. Not really a company you can trust to work for longterm.

Interesting incentives if you can get a full time perm position- safety oriented, many opportunities internally.

Cons

Rio Tinto is known to lay off full-time perms as easily as contractors, its doesn't matter its boom or bust. Also prefers to deal with contractors than full-time perms for cost effectiveness Also- recruitment services for Canada to be outsourced, just like they do with people and organizational services in Australia. Rio Tinto does not invest in communities like the small mines they acquire used to before being taken over. This is devastating for local populations.

Big corporate to hide in if you want a long career in company politics and back stabbing with schooling to constantly massage facts and figures to achieve unrealistic targets

Cons

A lot of talentless inept people hide in management and do the day to day running ! Distribution of overall company wealth and respect for workers is directed towards the upstream activities -- downstream is a poor relation

Bonuses and retirement are above average.

Cons

Subject to downsizing during bad economic times. Some of the positions require lots of un-compensated overtime. The slide was destructive to their business.
