Pros

I have work in this company for the last 8 year , if you not really not worry about your income , just want to kill some time , or you just a student and want to have some spare time to make some saving and get some social experience , fine . the jobs are not that hard , many things to learn , from store clerk , cashier to post office (if you had one ), to key holder , learning customer service , WHIMIS , and you get the discount of buying things in store and as well if you need prescription, you would get discount , and you could learn many things about how to run the retail store ,if you become a key holder , you need to know how to order , doing inventory , check expire , it is a good place to work with different people and learning customer service

Cons

MANY--way too many , please don't waste your life here, no worth it . Because by the end it is still a dead end job , they wont give you enough hour , the shift is random , yes , most of the store like this , even you told them you availability , they still put you in odd hour ( and I have work three store , don't argue with me ,), they want you to be available but they don't give you hours , the company lately been bought by an US company , the head office have not idea what you are doing , I work for 8 year now and work from post office to front shop and as a senior key holder , they told me they can only give me 20 hr a week , I have many responsible , doing paper work like manager , checking everything , but still ,a part time , they just don't want to give you a full time because they don't want to pay for a full benefit , and they want you doing all jobs, so busy many time I can't have my break , because so many task to finish but not enough work hour , they don't really cherish hard worker , a lot of full time union worker just lazy , yes you have to pay for your union due , but you wont get so many from them , don't be happy if they ask you work more in the holiday season , after new year you would see you only work 2 day a week , you would get a lot of responsible , but they don't have enough hour to train you ( store budget is really tight and head office don't want to spend money ), I have only 8 hour training learning how to be a post office clerk , and they ask you to learn online , and no giving you hour to work and learn from the current worker, you would get stress, anger , grief, upset with the head office , they keep cutting worker hour and ordering a lot of junk never sell ,and if you a "green " people ,like doing recycling , this company never know what is recycling , they throw all expired medicine and milk and food in garbage , never recycling , and they don't care for what do you think.

Pros

Nice co-workers. Flexible with scheduling time off.

Cons

Greedy company giving absurdly low hours to stores, resulting in part timers getting 6-14 hours per week. Absolutely zero room for advancement. Everything in the store is over-priced, and you'd be able to find cheaper prices at a different store even AFTER your employee discount. Slow and long days.
