Employees are Replaceable!

Pros

The customers were great to interact with - but this is more due to the fact that the location I worked in was in a small town. I had a great time with my co-workers. I also had the opportunity to progress rather quickly throughout the store hierarchy - from cashier to supervisor to key holder. Great for a job while in High School.

Cons

Poor pay - I worked for this company for 5 years, and in the last year took on a substantial amount of responsibility (basically performed the tasks of an assistant manager) and was even left in charge of the store while the manager was on vacation for 3 weeks and I was in no way compensated or even acknowledged by head office or our regional director. The last raise that I received was for 2 cents. Head office doesn't seem to care about the employees in the stores, nor do they seem to acknowledge when there is an issue with management at the store level, as there was in my store. The benefits are not worth it.

Pros

The benefits and wages are good. At store level, the staff are great to work with. Busy dispensary makes the day pass quickly.

Cons

Corporate doesn't care about patients or about staff. There are not enough hours budgeted for pharmacy assistants which results in stress for staff and very kong wait times for patients. Medschecks (a HUGE waste of healthcare dollars) are the only thing corporate cares about.

Tough pushy environment

Pros

Discount is cool, you pay cost + 10% markup for anything in the stores

Cons

Very pushy for Professional services and set unbearable targets for them where you start losing interest in the patient care because you’re worried about how you’ll be scolded in the next conference call and extremely micromanaging environment
