Pros

Smart engineers, products are solid, its an easy job

Cons

Red Hat always had a weird kool-aid culture, but when things were flying high it was never addressed. When interest rates spiked it all came crashing down. In parallel to that the sales culture had become less about solving problems and being a trusted advisor and more douche-bag bro culture where sales guys delude themselves into thinking their powerpoints make them CTOs. After interest rates spiked, the resistance crumbled and now its full on sales bro culture and depression.

Pros

- Learning Curve is great - Use lot of latest technologies, but it's your luck whether you will be able to use it or not, as your leadership will stop you to do anything new. - Being a pioneer to open source, scope of growth is great

Cons

- After IBM took over, gradually over the years the Culture that people used to love for is gone. - New People Leadership has worsen the situation - In past year RedHat hired few new leadership who doesn't know what leadership means. Instead of continuing RedHat's great culture they are more interested to push the toxic culture that they have left in earlier orgs. - Recent aimless-unplanned layoffs just to make the shareholders happy made the organisation atmosphere more worry some, - Previously, it used to be heaven when your leadership team used to discuss everything that are people centric, now it's totally changed. Every leader with hide the actual fact what's going on. Even when a month before the layoff hit, the question was asked to CEO that is here any chance of cutting down the employee strength, he simply denied and told we will not. But after a month all of a certain an email came and within a 4 min video call, you are out. - Even if profitable for last few quarters with good growth, they never thought of the employees who were there for the last 15 years+. - Management's vision is as low as they hired a person on 1st April and fired him on 24th April.and this is the reality I have seen.

Pros

I loved the creativity, open innovation, work-life balance, and anonymity that I had at Red Hat

Cons

My entire team (and many others) was suddenly laid off with no exact reasoning other than we were no longer aligning with Red Hat. I didn’t agree with it. One of my team members had just celebrated his 20th anniversary with Red Hat. Another influential Red Hatter, active in the Fedora and RHEL community and a well known DE+I community stakeholder was laid off. These firings are not aligned at all with open source and what it means to be open source. Red Hatter is becoming IBM.
