Pros

Raytheon is a world-wide company with many opportunities for an employees if you are interested in pursuing working in other places around the world, and you may be offerered the chance to travel for work.

Cons

Many business units are management top heavy and this leaves fewer workers to get the work done. The managament and leadership top-heavy organization leads to overabundant effort to improve the processess and working environment, or the product.

Pros

There are lots of opportunities if you are willing to play the corporate game and follow stupid corporate policies. Once you get through all that and prove yourself, a whole new world opens up.

Cons

Even though they claim that promotions are skill based and not time based, I'm getting a sense that they are. Any time I ask about a promotion I get a response along the lines of "typically you have to be in your current position for X years" as opposed to "you need to be able to do X and do Y."

Pros

They pay is great, the work is sometimes interesting, and your co-workers will be intelligent. You'll be working on something you can be proud of. The company will pay for you to continue your education, which is great if your interested in getting a free graduate degree.

Cons

Not always working on the latest and greatest technology. Sometimes feel like your re-inventing the same wheel just to sell it to the Government. You get very little feedback ever. There are some politics that go on (I suppose that is normal) in that it seems like promotions are often determined by who you know. The software engineering positions can be really boring. Software engineers are often treated as replaceable parts that can be moved around at will. Sometimes they shove process down your throat and don't let you take ownership of what you're working on.
