Pros

Great people, information sharing, colleagues and opportunities. All agents and franchisees are independently owned and operated. If you are thinking of working for REMAX that means you have to look behind the front image of the company and get to know the individul office, colleagues and opportunities since they may vary a lot from office to office and even from one agent to another. But the company is very, very open to information to candidates who are interested in working in real estate or owning a franchise. Talk to the people, look for the ones who are successful and choose to work with the ones that you like. If you are hard-working and capable of thinking "out-of-the box" RE/MAX is the right place

Cons

Since it's franchised it is at times very disorganized / decentralised. You have to create your own network. There are many, many successful people to work with but sometimes you find yourself in the middle of some naggers and then it's time for you to make a decision who you want your peers to be. If you are not pro-active this is not the company for you.

Pros

Re/Max gives its realtors a tremendous amount of personal freedom. The vast majority of people working in Re/Max offices are helpful and hardworking. Because of the nature of the job, the offices themselves are often empty. If you like sales and don't want to be behind a desk for 10 hours a day Re/Max may be for you. If needed (and for a price) there is plenty of support offered by the company. Re/Max gives its realtors a tremendous amount of personal freedom. Cons

The real estate market is in serious trouble and business for most mid-level realtors is drying up. This makes it very difficult to maintain a steady income with a commission based structure. Employee morale is generally low (as a result of the market) but Re/Max gives its advisers plenty of tools to build and maintain their businesses. Pros

The most recognized name in real estate in Canada and USA. They have the best marketing tools of any real estate company and most of them are free of charge. The compensation or real estate commissions are the best in the marketplace. They are on the leading edge of any technology that assists in your marketing ability and provide premier market presence by spending millions on keeping the brand on top. A very charitable organization as well supporting Childrens Miracle Network, Kumon Breast Cancer Awareness, plus numerous other special interest groups and programs. Peers are a very professional group and very willing to help.

Cons

Head office could make independant office visits more frequently. As a RE/MAX Realtor you are recognized by peers from other companies as a "Top Producer or you wouldn't be at RE/MAX" and it occassionally breeds contempt or jealousy from some of your peers from other companies.
