A very poor experience
Pros
Lots are offered but were untrue
Cons
The RAC Direct Sales Force Agent opportunity is very misleading. They promise big earnings and lots of support, showing you other agents sales figures and there is more to learn about this. The earning potential is very misleading and it will take months of work to get anyway over £1500 per month. Basically they promised good money with plenty of customers at supermarkets wanting to sign up for breakdown cover. This really wasn't true as most people wanted to go home and check comparisons online. When I questioned this I was told it was just the older customers who would sign up, which removes a big chunk of your customer base. Training was provided but on getting home the local support told us to ignore the training from HQ and do it this way. The daily/weekly fees for supermarket sites makes it a very expensive and takes away a big chunk of the profits along with the monthly agent fee. You are also expected to pay for local events which can be very expensive. The weather is a major factor as most of the work is outside and if it rains, snows or is windy customers do not want to stop and talk. What becomes obvious is that the agents making good money are not doing it from the supermarket sites. They are in fact working together to recycle past customers, swapping customer details etc and then resigning them up each year. The RAC state this is illegal and non-compliant and against the FCA rules and if you get caught your agency will be terminated. However, on talking to the big earners, they tell you this is how they make money and that the management know it is going on. Sadly RAC still owe me money and ignoring emails. New agents do not last long at all. For a household name, RAC are not what you expect.
