      Pros

      It’s a good job, I really enjoy giving my best to each and every member and being a good patrol, and a great way to start to learn about mechanics. You get a van and tools, training on how to use the vans RDT which can really help a member in a sticky situation. Training is given at regular intervals and delivered by a great team in which they make it fun and enjoyable. College is at regular intervals provided by an outside company but they enjoy promoting RAC

      Cons

      You don’t really learn that much about mechanics, it’s mostly theory based and thus have no practical application especially when you are on a high speed road and you haven’t got the skills to do the job, you've got the knowledge but not the skill to get the job done, quickly and efficiently. Unfortunately this is a huge let down and does cause problems at roadside and trying to give the member your best diagnosis.

      Pros

      I’m almost at the end of my apprenticeship and it has been amazing opportunity to get on and do. I’ve come into the job with no mechanical experience, and with the support I have had from the company has been amazing, I’ve learnt so much and come so far. My boss, academy trainers, patrols, and college lecturer have all been amazing, and have supported me the whole way. All tools have been provided including a van that I get to take home every night. Amazing opportunity to get onto. Would definitely recommend.

      Cons

      The working hours can be tough, however you do find that out a year in advance.
