Pros

Great benefits, almost everyone has an office with a door.

Cons

If you're not an engineer, you don't matter.

Pros

If you want to get engineering experience, this is a great place to be because Qualcomm does venture into every new wireless product available. Also, it is easy to approach experts in different areas and get one's technical curiosities satisfied.

Cons

The company culture is of workhorses, people literally seem to be working like crazy for no good reason. The prioritization of everything is always "critical", and it need not be. Easy to feel burnt out or sitting among robots. Not much scope for growth if you want to rise up quick. The review system does not really give much insight into rewards for job well done. The immigration system sucks so don't event thing about joining if you need a green card or something.

Pros

Good technology, challenging work, good opportunity to sharpen technical and all-round skills. Even entry level postions involve a lot of responsibility, including liasing with other technology teams, coordinating release schedules besides technical competance with system software design.

Cons

Middle management leaves a lot to be desired. Frequent changes in direction, last-minute surprises and crisis mode operation are de riguer rather than the exception. The problem is exacerbated by unrealistically aggressive schedules, lack of planning, shortage of resources and setting of unrealistic customer expectations by marketing. As a result, most of the engineers routinely end up working very late hours with litte appreciation of their outstanding effort
