Pros

Based in a Central London building

Cons

- Rude managers who call academic staff over by wiggling their index fingers at them - One manager saw me queue in front of the registry office when I wanted to collect exam papers. She wiggled her index finger at me to get my attention and told me to get out of the queue till all the students have been served - Senior positions in the academic team and operational team are nepotistically awarded to a director's underqualified children. As an employee, you will need to act as the subservient servants of these 'children' if you want to keep your job - Lastly but very important, they hire academics in their busy semester when they deliberately run a lot of modules which the academic is qualified to teach. Once the semester is over, they make the academic redundant. After skipping a semester, they readvertise your job and repeat this process. They will cause you to leave secure jobs and schedule academic teaching in a way that you are overexploited, make you redundant and readvertise your post. In my case, my manager asked me to complete the marking, which I was given four days to complete, quickly by the end of the afternoon. He kept revisiting me to ask my progress and said it was urgent I sped up. As soon as I finished marking in a rush, he told me I was being made redundant. He deliberately acted unethically to avoid paying me for an extra four days. A lot of my colleagues were made redundant, and the jobs were readvertised after one semester. To all job hunters, please don't join this organisation unless you are completely unemployed. Not only will you lose a secure job, but their managers will also sneer at you at the sham redundancy consultation, again by wigging index fingers and pulling smug smiles. They have no respect for staff, no basic manners to conduct themselves and have zero ethics.

Thank you for providing the opportunity to bring you up to date with QA Higher Education, (the name adopted by the old QA Business School in 2014). We are very pleased to let you know that the majority of the academic team who worked for QABS in 2014 continue to work for QAHE. Significantly, full time faculty has grown from 17 to near 70, employee turnover remains low and a number of the team, that was in place in 2014, have achieved merit based promotions to management roles in the intervening period. We are really proud of our quality standards, as demonstrated by two successful QAA reviews of our Ulster University provision and our accreditations with the British Accreditation Council and the British Council. All this has been achieved under a new, highly qualified and experienced academic management team appointed in 2014, and which remains fully committed to providing long term sustainable employment and equality of opportunity across the business.
