Pros

The people- everyone worked their socks off to deliver quality education to students and learners and were always pleasant to work with. Sometimes the outcomes could be mixed because of the complexity of the business arrangements, internal structures or the constant change of senior management, but everyone there is dedicated to their role and applies themselves well. As a business they are good with flexible working if the role allows, They have good technology to enable this and learned a lot through the pandemic. They generally act quickly when necessary, which could be frustrating to cope with, but usually get it right eventually. They make a lot of effort to create a positive working culture, and offer a range of benefits to staff.

Cons

There is a real detachment between certain parts of the business, particularly from a senior level, and what actually happens on the ground. This is evident in some teams where they are stretched beyond capacity, with staff going above and beyond just to ensure the learners and students receive the right level of support. It was once described by a senior manager that 'QA likes to run lean' and treads the line between effective resourcing and disaster very finely.
