Pros
Flexibility and ability to move up the ladder if you work hard. A fairly open performance review policy leaves everyone knowing where they stand with enough due diligence on the part of the employee. Any employee who says they dont "understand" how we are evaluated has clearly not been paying attention. If you ask and prove that you are ready for more responsibility, it will be given to you. The firm seems to value relationship building with clients and technical expertise. The relationships are often more important than the technical expertise on a daily basis and this fits with our overall business model.
Cons
Long hours, tight timelines on client demands, never ending measurement of utilization and revenue metrics. There is a push to be all things to all people - a good coach to staff, from a technical and professional development standpoint; giving back to the community, working on 10 projects at the same time while keeping work life balance in check and utilization high. Taking vacation is important but so is utilization and one can't do both well in any given month. Compensation seems like it could be higher in order to keep solid performers. They may leave anyway, but at least comp won't be one of the driving factors.
