Pros

In general, you are in charge of your career and responsible for managing it. If you produce and achieve your goals, you are recognized and rewarded. PwC tends to compensate their employees well relative to competitors, but the higher compensation offsets less work/life balance.

Cons

Partners and senior people tend to be very arrogant; and only seem to really consider the perspectives of those who are their peers or are above them. Work/life balance is purely marketing, if you want to succeed at the firm; you need to work, alot, and those who do not will get left behind relative to their peer group.

Pros

Good place to learn and increase your human capital while you decide what you really want to do. Also, within PwC there are multiple opportunities to work in different areas of public accounting, but can be difficult to move around if you don't have good contacts within the organization. Training is a plus here, I can tell they take it seriously and provide ample opportunities to learn more about the profession and all of the standards and guidance. They have proven to be flexible with my work schedule when I need it, although that probably depends on the team you work on.

Cons

The first thing I will say is that I feel I am not adequately compensated for the work I perform. I'm not trying to compare it to an ibanking job either. I am speaking merely from experience, the pay I receive in exchange for my efforts make me feel very undervalued and plus I can't support my family adequately here in the city off of my salary. Although PwC tries to sell us on their review process and how objective and thorough it is, it is far from perfect and can leave you feeling like you've had the wind knocked out of you, not to mention that it takes so much effort for such a meager result.
