Pros

PwC is a great experience because it has infinite resources in terms of databases, coworkers, and various offices all across the world. I like the fact they always challenge you in order to work up to your full potentials. HR was very responsive to your needs but make sure you voice your opinions properly or that can be your undoing. Staff is very supportive of time off for the most part and they believe in contributing to your community.

Cons

The biggest downside is the communication between management and staff. Management comes across being afraid to voice their suggestions on a project when they should be more upfront in their suggestions. Several times, I had management that were afraid to tell me something in my face but finds comfort to write in evaluations. If you are a leader, act like a leader, not a coward.

There needs to be a clearly defined role for everyone in a team.

Pros

As a Big 4 accounting firm, PwC offers a lot of training and opportunities to build experience in the accounting industry. After at least 3 years of working with a company such as PwC, your resume will already stand out from the rest of the crowd since people learn so much on the job not only with technical skills, but also communication, leadership, and people skills. The compensation is usually higher than if one were to work in a similar role in a government agency or private sector. If one works hard enough and is savvy well-rounded person, it is possible to make partner within 10-15 years.

Cons

Though the compensation is above average, the job entails a lot of responsibility as one tries to work his or her way up the corporate ladder at a company like this. Long hours and no overtime tend to deflate the compensation factor of the job. Stress levels can be high on some projects with tight deadlines and there are moments where one is expected to do the job with minimal guidance. The higher up the ladder, the bigger the responsibilities and related stress levels. Also, there is a tendency for management to expect certain things which may not be all that practical such as requiring staff to come into the office at 8:30am and leave no later than 5:30pm even if there is no work or if you worked like a dog until 3am the previous morning. This depends on the office and individual managers/partners.
