      Pros

      Benefits only in my opinion. The money is only good when you get into management as it skyrockets when you make that sacrifice. As for me personally, I had several opportunities to get into management, but I knew I'd be miserable if I did. So I finished up school and just got a new job.

      Cons

      Retail. Not being an individual. Being treated unfairly if you aren't interested in hunting, 4x4s, fishing, etc. It's kind of a shame especially at the store manager level. When someone is being paid 100,000 a year, they should treat all associates respectfully and I did not feel that from my most recent one. But it really depends on the store.

      Pros

      I worked in the Information Technology division of Publix Super Markets Inc. The reason I went to work at publix was to get training in working in a development environment. Publix is very team oriented and applies the textbook strategy of development. So here you get the feel of everything from the business group to the programmer. It is a breading ground for developers. Youhave opportunities to learn different systems that are used on a daily basis by the company.

      Cons

      Some of the downsides is having to work 45 hours per week to recieve the year end bonus from the company.

      Publix... Where Working Can Be Frustrating!

      Good benefits including health, dental, 401k, and employee stock ownership.

      Cons

      You don't make a whole lot of money if you're not in management. You could potentially make up to about 14 dollars an hour as a meat cutter or a seafood specialist but there is a limited number of those positions. Most people are hired making about eight or nine dollars an hour. Good raises are hard to come by. You really have to bust your butt and the sqeaky wheel definitely gets the oil. What's really frustrating is that most of the time while your working your butt off everyone else is doing the bare minimum.
