Pros

Don't need previous job experience. Pay is above minimum wage. Have the opportunity to work more hours. If full time, you can get benefits and shares of Publix stock.

Cons

Changing your availability is difficult if you're in college. Certain departments, such as the bakery, have the least amount of employees, making it difficult to take time off if sick or taking exams for school. Long hours, sometimes without a break.

Pros

The insurance you can purchase is ok, however at part time you have to average 30 hours per week, to total 1500 hours per year in order to be eligible. The 401k is nice, which includes a decent company match. You will likely work with nice people, as they are choosy in whom they hire.

Cons

Very rare to be hired unless you have a family member or friend who works there. To be promoted, it does not seem to always be performance based, it sometimes feels like more of a popularity contest.
