Pros

Publix is a a very fast paced work environment with very high expectations. YOU WILL BE EXPECTED TO WORK! (productivity is tracked in countless ways) It is a stable job with a fantastic retirement/ profit sharing plan and is employee owned. Most of the employees take pride in the fact that they are share holders of the company, this makes for a pleasant work environment most of the time.

Cons

There is zero work life balance! If you are in management you are required to work a minimum of 50 hours/ week (this is tracked as well). You are expected to work 2 nights a week, every weekend and every holiday (closed on Thanksgiving, Easter and Christmas). A lot of 6-7 day weeks as well. If you can get past the horrible schedule demands it is a great job with a lot of room to grow a career. Publix usually only hires part time and you have to move up from the bottom. With low employee turn over, this can take a while. Sometimes years before you get a promotion.

Pros

Amazing company with overall great treatment of employees. Lots of potential for promotion from within.

Cons

Most locations have one pharmacist covering twelve hour shift. Not able to leave for meal break and restrooms are generally at opposite end of store. Support staffing based on Rx volume, so if you have a slow Rx department, there is zero support staff.

Pros

They provide free meals for each shift. Plenty of available positions and opportunities to move around. Raises are every 6 months until you cap out in your role. Employee credit union. Paid weekly

Cons

NO PERSONAL LIFE. Recruiter said "rotating schedule, 4 days on, 3 off, etc. It turned out to be more like working whenever demand is high, random off days based on OT. They provide schedules a month in advance, but sometimes it is subject to change. Prepare to work 3 out of 4 weekends. It makes it very difficult to sustain a healthy personal life outside of work.
