Pros

Strongly committed to ethical, competent, excellent and compassionate healthcare; built into the management philosophy and administration of services. A spiritually oriented organization but not evangelical. Values diversity and teamwork, caring behaviors and attitudes. If you want to help people, this is the place to be.

Cons

Sometimes slow to change, management structure is very hierarchical and somewhat rigid at times; employees' natural desire to go the extra mile for patients is rewarded but management needs to also support the need for self care and more flexibility and work/life balance.

Pros

philantropic core values; lots of dedicated health care team line workers (RNs, RTs, etc.)

Cons

politics and neppitism; peoples' egos and status-quo over patient care. Core values only applicable to line-staff if mgr wants to 'write-up" or down-grade performance. Higher management and HR supporting back-stabbing, bullying culture.

Pros

The hospital is very modern and efficient. There are many excellent nurses and charge nurses. Teamwork is great with the other CNAs and the level of independence to perform ones job is nice too. Opportunity to change departments or train for ward clerk is available.

Cons

As a CNA, you should be accustomed to the bottom of the totem pole. Patient ratios are always on the high side, many RNs assume you are dumb, and prepare to be floated around without a say. Staffing will call you on every one of your days off, and watch out because sometimes they will change your schedule without notice.
