Pros

Lots of great people in middle management and below, hard workers, and they are there for the right reasons. Good salaries, good benefits, exciting work environment, many opportunities to learn and grow.

Cons

Company is not focusing on its people any longer. I've seen effective and successful leaders/managers get pushed out to be replaced by younger/cheaper versions. Sales is everything now, moving away from "core values". Not so much about doing what's right for the hospital, focus is now how can we make more money off of the hospital. Promotions are decided behind closed doors and revolves around favoritism, not effort or results.

Hardcore Technologist or Tech-savy clinician?

Pros

Folks with clinical backgrounds who can leverage technology to help improve outcomes are very valuable and really provide a lot of added value to the customers. If you are in this category it can be an excellent place to work! If you are a technology worker it is a dicier proposition. They typically hire young talent to work with new and open source technologies and without a ton of direction. So if that describes you, it may be a good fit.

Cons

If you work in technology, beware. There is still plenty of legacy software/technology and the organization is simply not disciplined enough to manage it properly, nor do they want to spend the money to do so. They are large enough to need an integrated architecture and management gambled on a partnership with Big Blue which didn't seem to really pan out, at least from the technology perspective. Now instead of reinforcing older legacy investments which dangled on the vine during the partnership, they are trying to use newer technologies to replace or handle additional processing. They have gone 'All In' on the innovation and collaboration at the expense of traditional 'Prioritize and Mobilize' by carefully picking what they want to focus on and then dedicating adequate and well managed resources to accomplish them. Tech management has a tendency to chase anything shiny and overcommit, and from my perspective, haven't been held accountable for it. Management turnover seems abnormally low.

Pros

what used to be and what is now is a total 180 degree turn. one thing that still has a thread left is the employees. there are some die hard folks out there that still care but that croud is a dying breed.

Cons

No work/life balance. Not any true appreciation. Work you like a robot. I gave Premier over 10 years of my expertise and knowledge. At first it was exciting, fresh, and realistic. When management started changing is when things shifted like tectonic plates that cause earthquakes. They are focused mostly on ideas and the "yes it can be done" attitude. To me there is nothing wrong with that until it comes to 80 hour weeks, no work/life balance, and treat you like robot.....yeah I have issues. Everything is my way or the highway attitude. Do what they say, no matter of its impossible. During my time I really don't think the company listening was a viable solution. For this review I quote Metallica, Unforgiven..... "Throughout his life the same, hes battled constantly, this fight he can not win. A tired man they see no longer cares. The old man then prepares to die regretfully, that old man here is me. What i've felt what i've known never shines through what i've shown. Never free, Never me, so i dub thee unforgiven."
