Pros

There are lots of pros working for Pratt. You get to work with very talented people and you get to learn A LOT. Depending on the department you are working for, flexibility is allowed. You can work from home when it snows or when you get sick, there are plenty of sick and vacation days. 401K match is standard 6% which is nice.

Cons

Promotions and yearly salary increases are almost non-existent. Yes, you may get lucky and end up in a highly visible group and potentially have a great career, but for most folks it's not the case. It's not about your work ethics, it's not about your dedication, it's mostly about who you know. In case you're like me, who works very hard and puts in 130% into everything you do, is just not enough to get a decent raise or promotion of any kind. Heck even my manager told me that I have to spend more time socializing and less time working if I want any kind of future in the company. For the past 3 years I have received an increase b/n $1500-$2000/year. and no indication of any time of promotion, mind that I have over 15 years of experience in my field of work

Pros

There is a lot of talented employees and mechanics at a lower level. Not so much on the "director" section. The CEO wants to change the culture but I do not see this happening anytime soon if they continue with the same directors. The cultural starts at the CEO but it gets lost at the director level and no change is felt.

Cons

There is no career development. There is a lot of sexism. No development of women. Very few women are managers in the OEM side but not in the aftermarket side. Managers don't care about employees. They only care about the numbers and to meet the monthly/quarter delivery. There is a lot of favoritism and retaliation.

Pros

Pratt and Whitney makes a very interesting and highly advanced product. New college hire have to option to participate in a 3 year rotational program to gain experience across various sections in their department.

Cons

No longer has a great Employee Scholar program. Pratt used the promise of a great employee scholar program to lure in new hires. However, after the new hires became eligible to participate in the program, it was limited and service requirements (not previously required) were added. Communication between departments is also poor.
