Pros
I worked at Planned Parenthood for three years, and it was one of the most meaningful jobs I’ve had. The patients truly rely on you, and you feel that every single day. I worked mostly with adolescents and young adults, providing contraception counseling, STI testing and treatment, preventive care, and doing procedures like IUD and Nexplanon insertions and removals. It’s a place where you grow quickly as a provider. You learn how to have honest conversations, how to support patients without judgment, and how to handle sensitive situations with compassion. The team overall really believes in the mission, and that makes a difference.
Cons
It can be very busy. Patient volume is high, and some days are emotionally heavy. Like many healthcare settings, staffing and workflow challenges can make things feel rushed at times.
