Exciting fulfilling work but disappointing management throughout.

Very nice people Good working hours and benefits Extraordinarily rewarding mission and goals Diverse issues Good amount of responsibility even at more junior levels

Cons

Upper level mismanagement -- except for CEO -- is surprising Favoritism in promotions Irrational hiring and firing, which means that attrition and turnover is demoralizing.

Pros

Support the mission and do the good work in a time of a national abortion crisis for patients in need. Sometimes there are opportunities for career advancement, but not often.

Cons

Upper management does not seem to care about anyone working in the health centers providing direct patient care. They do not provide adequate support, do not have the knowledge of the patient care, and care more about making money/paying directors and chief positions astronomical salaries than ensuring all of their employees are making a livable wage. Not as diverse as they may seem.

The gift of helping women navigate their reproductive health choices in a safe way was everything to me and some of the most rewarding work I ever had the privilege of doing.

Cons

Realizing that pushing papers around quickly was more important to leaders than actually helping people make informed decisions. I was often asked to speed up my counseling sessions when trying to assess the why of the woman's choice and not everyone appreciated me being thorough on making sure that the women were clear on the why of their choice without any reservations, which is truly the best path to not have emotional consequences around a very personal decision.
